The accident happened when I tried to overtake another truck,” Lalu Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI. SP Manish said, “As per the medical report of the blood test and breath analyzer equipment, it has been confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.”
A speeding truck rammed into a crowd of devotees at a roadside temple in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Sunday (20 November), killing eight people and injuring several others. According to ANI, at least seven children have died. The accident took place around 9 pm in Desari police station area of North Bihar district, about 30 km from the state capital, when the procession had gathered in front of a roadside Peepal tree to offer prayers to a local deity ‘Bhumia’. President, PM Modi announced ex-gratia
Police had earlier said that the post-mortem of all the eight victims had been done and the four injured victims were undergoing treatment.

President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Yadav have condoled the death of people in the accident in Vaishali, Bihar. PM Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased from PMNRF, while Bihar CM Nitish Kuma announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh.
